Amazing tree as you approach the Royal Botanic Gardens. Its' an Illawarra Flame Tree and as it tuirns out I was lucky to see it at this time, two weeks later and it had no red leaves. The ground around it was way cool too, it looked like Captain Crunch with Crunch Berries.
